And every month Nintendo Gamer celebrates Nintendo’s all-conquering genius. Our reviews are penned by the best writers around, our previews bring you the most in-depth info about upcoming games, and our features are written by lifelong Nintendo experts. Someone to Love $15.98 Thirty-track compilation of early San Francisco rock from the Autumn label, some previously unissued. This disc…is not the most economic way to collect some of this mid-’60s material, though much of it is of historic interest. The 13 Great Society cuts are all available on Sundazed’s domestic Born to Be Burned CD; Sundazed has also devoted separate collections to the Mojo Men and the Vejtables, both of whom have songs here. The disc is filled out by…the Tikis and Butch Engle (most tracks previously unissued). The tracks to watch for, if you’re a serious collector of San Francisco rock, are an acoustic, previously unreleased version of “Let’s Get Together” by its composer, Dino Valenti, and a previously unissued cut by Mojo Men/Vejtables singer Jan Ashton, “About My Tears.” If you’re not a completist, you might be better off searching for the separate-artist Sundazed comps…The Great Society were an excellent and important group (the original version of “Somebody to Love” is here); the live tapes from a later vintage that were issued on Columbia are better than the relatively primitive cuts offered here. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi |

Official Xbox 360 $15.99 Xbox World 360 is the ultimate Xbox 360 package, combining razor sharp writing with fearless independent opinion. We’re 100% independent…This is important. Even publications that say they’re independent don’t always act independently of games companies. We do. No one holds sway over us – we only tell the truth, and the same rules apply across the board, from the biggest cover game to the smallest review. We’re real Xbox 360 gamers… Picking up a copy of GTA IV for ten minutes doesn’t make you a gamer. We play games in the office, at home, and in every spare minute in between. We love games – and, most importantly, we remember what they cost too. That’s why you can always trust what we say.We go deeper than other mags… That means when we write news, we actually bother to pick up the phone and get comment. That means our reviews won’t be based on two minutes’ play. And that means, when we preview something, we’ve played it or seen it in action. |
